Casa La Big Sur

The site infrastructure for Casa Big Sur is complete to provide all the necessities vital for healthy and everyday living whether you are relaxing in the pool or surfing the internet to check out the local tides for a mid afternoon surfing session at Dominical Beach.

The roads to Casa Big Sur were strategically cut into the existing landform to help minimize erosion and unnecessary storm water runoff. Additionally check dams were provided to slow down water flow and to help facilitate percolation back into the natural aquifers under Casa Big Sur. Eco green pavers with low groundcover welcomes owners home on the final stretch of driveway which also allows for percolation while minimizing heat that an impermeable surface would create.

220 volt electricity with standard American outlets has been provided to service Casa Big Sur and was installed underground to minimize effects on views and the overall lush landscaping of the grounds.  Sky TV cable service has been provided throughout the house and every room has its own separate cable TV box allowing for viewing of multiple channels independently of what others are watching in different rooms. High speed wireless internet is also accessible throughout the house allowing for internet surfing, VoIP phone calls, video conferencing and e-mail.

Fresh water is provided by an onsite 80 meter deep natural well which is charged with fresh water from the natural forest preserve on the mountains above. The water is stored in a holding tank and then pumped up to a second holding tank by the house. Although the water in Costa Rica is safe for consumption, the water at Casa Big Sur is put through a rigorous process to make for delicious potable water that is guaranteed safe for both family and pets. The water is first filtered through a cloth filter, then a carbon and UV filter and finally put through a water softener. Additionally, the kitchen water is put through a reverse osmosis filter to further ensure the water is safe and healthy for consumption.

The jacuzzi is heated with natural gas to conserve energy use and the pool is heated naturally by the sun to a refreshing temperature to allow for relaxing in the sun with a drink and a panoramic view of the Ballena Coast below. Wastewater from the house is put through an onsite bio-remediation field that is skillfully integrated into the landscaped grounds below the house to help minimize the impact to the streams, rivers and ocean by allowing the water to be naturally cleaned and filtered back into the aquifers.
